Ballet & Pointe

The basis for contemporary and modern dance forms, ballet is great for toning and strengthening all muscle groups, developing balance, poise, and grace, as well as gaining body awareness and learning discipline.  The various age group classes are progressive in nature and serve to prepare dancers for each level appropriately.  Ballet is a dance form that incorporates fitness, fun and creativity.  Classes will include stretching, center floor and across the floor to teach steps, skills, and combinations. Ballet 1 Ages 5-7

Introductory classes focus on ballet elements and skills that are appropriate for each age group.  Intro classes will include a short stretch, warm up and review basic ballet skills.  Ballet positions (1st-5th) are introduced as well as learning to balance, jump, and leap all in a fun, engaging class.  Colorful scarves/ribbons, hula hoops and stuffed animals utilized to teach skills. This class is offered both non-recital (shorter sessions) and recital (School Year)-dancers are welcome to join the recital class anytime from Sept-Jan to be eligible to be in the Spring recital. 

Summer Session Ballet Ages 8-10

Refine body control and awareness in Ballet! Class will review gross motor skills combined with ballet terminology and skills. Classes will include barre work, center, and across the floor.

Summer Session Ballet Ages 11+

Class refines technique, turnout, flexibility and retaining choreography.  Increased emphasis on barre exercises, leaps, jumps, spotting with turns and balance. Classes will include barre work, center, and across the floor.
