Ballet is the basis for all dance forms.  Ballet is great for toning and strengthening all muscle groups, developing balance, poise, and grace, as well as learning body awareness and discipline.

Creative Movement
Ages 3-4

A fun introduction to dance that focuses on basic ballet and gross motor skills such as marching, galloping, and skipping and balance.  Activities will include dancing with colorful scarves, walking forward and backward on toes.  Classes do not perform in the recital. No diapers or pullups permitted.

Female Attire: Leotard and tights, or non-restrictive athletic clothing. If footed tights are worn, ballet shoes must also be worn. 
Male Attire:  Non-restrictive, athletic clothing.
Shoes: Any color ballet shoes or bare feet are acceptable for class.

Intro to Ballet
Ages 4-9

Introductory classes focus on ballet elements that are appropriate for each age group.  The various age group classes are progressive in nature and serve to prepare the dancer for Ballet 1.  They can also be used by participants that want to enjoy dance for the fitness and fun aspects.  Basic ballet terminology is used in class. Non-recital, short session classes for 6+ available Feb-Apr.

Ages 4-5 & Ages 5-6: Focuses on standing correctly at the barre, balance, and introducing the difference between right and left.  Skills taught will include: first and second position, pliés, relevés, tendus (pointing toes) chassés and skips.

Ages 6-9: A review of basic ballet skills (plie, releve, tendu) with a greater focus on classical ballet terminology. Non-recital class Feb-April

Female Attire & Shoes: Any color leotard and tights. Females must wear pink leather or canvas ballet shoes. 
Male Attire & Shoes:  Non-restrictive, athletic clothing. Males must wear black ballet shoes.

Ballet 1-3
Ages 7 & up

Ballet 1: Emphasis on more intricate barre exercises and basic turnout of the feet. Class will also focus on ballet terminology; jumps, leaps, and turns; and flexibility. 

Ballet 2: Classes refine technique, turnout, and flexibility. Increased emphasis on barre exercises, leaps, jumps, and turns and balance.

Ballet 3: This Pre-Pointe class prepares dancers for Pointe work. Increased emphasis on fine tuning ballet basics including weight change and more advanced and intricate combinations Includes more advanced leaps, jumps, and turns.

Requirements: By tryout or instructor invitiation from the previous level class. All participants must be a minimum of age 7.

Female Attire & Shoes: Black leotard and light pink or tan tights required.  Form fitting, sheer ballet skirt permitted.  Long hair must be in a bun, no ponytails; short hair must be pulled off the face securely. No sweatshirts or baggy clothing permitted. Females must wear pink leather or canvas ballet shoes. 
Male Attire & Shoes:  Non-restrictive, athletic clothing. Males must wear black ballet shoes.

Pointe 1 & 2

Increased emphasis on barre exercises and center floor work such as releves, bourees, turns, and piques. Strengthens the ankles and refines Pointe work. Students will dance the majority of the class in their flat shoes, and the remainder in Pointe shoes. Instructor will determine when students are ready to purchase and wear Pointe shoes for class. 

Requirements: Must have achieved 90% of the skills on the Pre-Pointe check list and received approval from the pointe instructors. Pointe students must be enrolled year round. 

Female Attire & Shoes:  Black leotard and light pink or tan tights required.  No shorts permitted. Long hair must be in a bun, no ponytails; short hair must be pulled off the face securely. Females must wear pink leather or canvas ballet shoes, and pointe shoes. 

Male Attire & Shoes:  Non-restrictive, athletic clothing. Males must wear black ballet shoes.
